Crispy jeon topped off with parmesan cheese and sliced scallions and paired with sweet tangy soy dip!
Have you ever run out of groceries at home and had no options but to make something out of what you have? well, this is exactly what happens in the recent K-drama Love in Contract episode starring Park Min-young and Go Kyung-Pyo! where the main character Sang Eun made this spaghetti jeon with the leftover ingredients in Ji-hos house. Although it might sound weird or gross, it is actually quite a delicious dish!
What is Jeon?
Jeon is a traditional Korean pancake dish also known as 전 or 煎, it is directly translated to “frying” as the dish is created by pan frying up mixed vegetables/meats with batters. There are many types of Jeon such as Pajeon(scallion), HaemulJeon(seafood), and Veggie pajeon(mixed veggies) just to name a few. In this recipe, I will be following the recipe that Park Min-Kyung uses in the Love in Contract drama: Spaghettijeon.
The main ingredients of this spaghetti jeon include the following: cooked spaghetti, parmesan cheese, gochugaru/dried pepper flakes, sliced scallions, chopped-up parsley, cabbages, flour, cornstarch, egg, and water.
Tip: replace water with sparkling water or add baking soda for extra crispiness!
Other additional ingredients that you can add in
Jeon is very customizable, as you can see from this spaghetti jeon, you can really add in anything and it will taste amazing! Some of the popular add-ons for jeon are Kimchee, carrots, onions, potatoes, and peppers.
Sauce recipe
For this recipe, I am making an easy and yummy dipping sauce to pair with the jeon which contains soy sauce, sugar, sliced green onions, and vinegar
Preparation Process
Start by cooking the spaghetti based on the box instruction. in a bowl, add all the dry ingredients(all-purpose flour, salt, corn starch, parmesan cheese, gochugaru)
chop up green onions, parsley, cabbage and cooked spaghetti and add it into the batter
mix in 1 egg, and sparkling water, combine the batter until smooth
fry them in a pan with oils, and flip once most of the top is dry.
cut the Jeon up into smaller pieces and dip it into the sauce, top it off with more parmesan cheese and sliced scallions. Enjoy!!

-Sparkling water can be replaced with regular water with 1 tsp of baking soda for crispiness!
-Feel free to add any of your favorite vegetables in the batter, just make sure to slice them up thinly
-Add more or less water/flour adjusting your batter to the perfect consistency, a good jeon batter should be slightly runny but not watery
