If you have been on TikTok long enough, then you probably remember this past chips recipe that went crazy viral about a year ago. Today I decided to finally recreate it and add my little twist to it!
What are Pasta chips?
Pasta chips are one of the most trending TikTok recipes that have been going around for the past year of 2021. It is essentially cooked pasta tossed with olive oil, parmesan cheese, and other spices. Once it is well seasoned, you can either choose to air fry it, bake it in the oven, or deep fry it with some oil, which will result in a crispy, flavorful, and fun snack to enjoy!
Types of pasta to use
For this recipe, I am choosing to use the Rigatoni pasta as I will be stuffing it with some crab Rangoon fillings for that extra flavor and texture. But you can really just choose any pasta of your choice, here are some of the suggestions:
Dipping sauces
Some of the most classic dips that you can pair pasta chips with are Ranch, whipped feta dip, sweet and sour sauce, tomato sauce, Salsa, or in this case, some crab rangoon dip!
Preparation Process
Start by cooking the rigatoni pasta following the box instructions
drain the pasta and add in seasonings
mix well, and fry them in an air fryer, meanwhile, make the crab rangoon filling
add in crab, sriracha, kewpie mayo and other ingredients in a bowl
mix well with a fork and stuff that in the middle of the pasta, dip in some sweet Thai chili sauce and enjoy!!
Pasta chips
Crispy, flavorful pasta chips filled with the classic crab rangoon filling.
Ingredients
Pasta chip
- 1/2 lb rigatoni pasta
- 2tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tbsp buldak sauce (optional for spice)
Crab rangoon filling
- 1 pack/ 8 oz cream cheese
- 160g of imitation crab
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2tsp sriracha
- 2 tbsp kewpie mayo
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp honey
Instructions
- cook the rigatoni pasta in boiling water following the instruction
- drain the pasta out and season it with olive oil, parmesan, garlic salt, and buldak hot sauce, mix well
- put the pasta in the air fryer and fry for 15 min, starting at 350F for 8 minutes and then increasing to 400F for another 8 minutes, make sure you flip and toss the pasta in between
- while the pasta is frying, we can make the crab rangoon filling
- in a bowl, add cream cheese, imitation crab, sesame oil, sriracha, kewpie mayo, soy sauce, and honey
- give it a good mix and put them in a piping bag
- once the pasta chip is done frying and cooled down, pipe the crab rangoon filling in the rigatoni pasta
- dip it in some sweet chilli sauce
- Enjoy!
Notes
- It is important to flip and toss in between pasta frying so that your pasta doesn't burn!!
- feel free to use any dipping sauce of your choice
- if you don't want to pipe each and every individual of the pasta with rangoon filling, you can simply just use it as a dip!
